Megan Wilson grew up inMontana. She received her BFA from the University of Oregon in 1992 andan MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1997. Her work has beenexhibited in San Francisco at Southern Exposure, the San Francisco ArtCommission, Clarion Alley, ampersand international arts, Stephen WirtzGallery, gallery 3, ATA, The Lab, Meridian Gallery, and in publicspaces throughout San Francisco; in Los Angeles at the Richard HellerGallery; and internationally in Tokyo, Japan; Yogyakarta, Indonesia;Paris, France; Jaipur, India, and Manila Philippines. Wilson is arecipient of a 2000 grant award from the Gunk Foundation, a 2001 grantaward fromthe Art Council/Artadia, and an Individual Artist Commissiongrant award in 2005/06 from the San Francisco Arts Commission. In 2002,she was selected to design posters for the San Francisco ArtCommission's Market Street Art in Transit poster series. She is also afreelance writer and art critic. In 2000-2001 she was a weeklycontributing arts writer for the SF Bay Guardian. She co-founded theSan Francisco based arts Website www.stretcher.org.Her writings have appeared in afterimage, Digitalcity,and Public ArtReview. From 2000 - 2004, she was the co-director of the Clarion AlleyMural Project. In 2002-03 she initiated, curated, co-directed andparticipated in Sama-sama/Together,an international exchange project between artists from San Franciscoand Apotik Komik of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The catalog for the project,Sama-sama/Together An International Exchange Project between Yogyakarta-San Francisco was published in May 2006 and is currently available through Intersection for the Arts. She is currently working on her project Home 1996-2008 that was started in 2004 and will be completed in 2007/08, thanks to agenerous Individual Artist Commission Grant from the San Francisco ArtsCommission. In 2007 Wilson had a solo show at Tin Lark Gallery in LosAngeles, is part of Wall Works 3 at Traywick Contemporary, participated in the international exchange project Galleon Trade in Manila Philippines curated and directed by Jenifer K. Wofford. She will also be traveling to Buenos Aires and Sao Paolo in fall of 2007 for various projects. In 2008 she will be one of the artists featued in The Fire Horse at The Luggage Store and will do a three-month residency at Antena Projects in Yogyakarta Indonesia.
